Curious about the secret life of bees? Or maybe you have established a bee-friendly patch in your garden and want to know more? Perhaps you just love honey and want to learn about the different kinds or are perhaps considering keeping bees but aren’t too sure of what’s involved?
At Rockhill House Estate we are offering you the chance to get up close and personal with our native honey bee with our expert Rockhill House Estate Beekeeper Frank Chaney.
Tour our gardens and woodland and discover how and what they forage on throughout the year.
Learn what our native Irish black honeybees get up to inside the Rockhill House beehives and how they make their honey for your delicious ‘Taste of Rockhill’ breakfast.
Learn about beekeeping practices, honey extraction, and see a full hive inspection as well as getting more information on the equipment needed and set-up costs involved
See samples of other hive products including bee pollen, beeswax candles, lip balm, soap and beeswax wraps.
Enjoy a tasting session of different honeys and learn about the differences.
This will be a group experience with 2 to 10 places per session, and is suitable for ages 16 and above.
You will be required to bring your own boots/wellies but will be provided with a beekeeping suit for the experience.
