The Afterparty
When the Night Softens
The Day After
Belongs to You Too
A wedding at Rockhill House does not end when the last song plays. The estate is yours through the night, and into the slow morning that follows. Twenty-seven bedrooms mean the people you most want to be with are already here — no taxis called, no early goodbyes. Just the gradual, unhurried end of something that deserves that much time.
This page is about everything that happens after the ceremony and the feast. The late evening, the wedding night, the morning after, and the day that follows it.
The Evening
Until the Small Hours
The Orangerie & The Estate by Night
The Orangerie has a dancefloor that has seen a great deal of use. By the time the evening band takes the stage, the chandeliers and candlelight are doing their work, the glass roof holds the stars, and the doors to the formal gardens are open. The party finds its own pace — some outside, some in, the fountain lit, the estate dark and quiet beyond.
Late-night food arrives at the right moment. The bar is yours through the night. There is no last orders called too early, no venue manager hovering. The evening ends when you are ready for it to end.
As the night softens further, the Library Bar and the five drawing rooms offer a quieter gathering place for those who prefer good conversation over dancing — board games, short drinks, and the particular pleasure of a house that has settled around you.
A Note from the Estate Archives, October 1896
“Singing and dancing continued until the small hours of morning — all separated well pleased, with three hearty cheers for General and Mrs Stewart.”
Written by Robert R. Robinson, Land Steward of Rockhill House, describing the annual Harvest Home celebration held in the Servants’ Hall of the mansion. Twenty estate employees gathered with eight indoor servants for dinner, music, and dancing that lasted into the morning. The letter was submitted to the Letterkenny Sentinel. It was, Robinson notes, an annual tradition.
Rockhill House has been hosting celebrations that last until the small hours for over 130 years.
The Morning After
There Is No Hurry
Breakfast, the Wellhouse & the Estate at Dawn
The morning after a Rockhill wedding is part of what you are paying for, and we treat it that way. Breakfast is served at a pace that suits the occasion. No rush, no check-out pressure, no sense that the house is moving on without you.
Why not book time in the The Wellhouse Thermotherapy Suite. There are very few better answers to the question of what to do with the first morning of a marriage.
The estate itself is quiet in the early hours. The woodland walks, the walled garden, the formal grounds — all of it still yours. The guests who stayed over surface slowly. The last stories of the previous evening get told over coffee. Nobody is ready to leave yet. That is exactly as it should be.

Day Two
The Day After
Lunch, the Lawn & the Long Goodbye
Our next-day package is built around the pleasure of not being anywhere else. A late lunch in The Church or the orangerie — relaxed, unhurried, with the previous evening still warm in the room. Or, if the weather is with you, a lazy afternoon barbacue in the garden.
Speak to us about tailoring the day-after programme to your party. Some couples want everything arranged. Others want nothing more than access to the estate and the freedom to use it. Either is fine.
“Everyone enjoyed themselves and the dancefloor never emptied.”

“We have always loved coming to Rockhill before the wedding whether for something to eat or to use the spa, and now it’s even more special to us. It’s lovely to know we can go back any time and be reminded of such a happy day.”
